Flexible Travel Times

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Everyone knows that traveling, especially with a family, can be stressful. One of the last things anyone wants to deal with after a three-hour plane ride is to sit around the airport for several hours, waiting for your ride!

Rocky Mountain Transportation works with our guests on their arrival and departure times. We’ve been able to work with your schedule–not ours. As soon as you get your luggage, just walk out the door and we’ll be there waiting for you. Our rates are still the same and you will still ride in a luxury SUV. Then it’s just a matter of enjoying the scenery, experiencing Eisenhower tunnel, and skiing Colorado’s amazing mountain resorts!

If the road conditions change, we’ll let you know…and we can even leave earlier just to make sure you get to the airport in time.

Give us a call or send us an e-mail today!

Winter X Games 12

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Everyone’s excited again, because it’s time for the 12th Annual Winter X-Games right here in Aspen!  The games will take place Starting Thursday, January 24th and ending Sunday, January 27th.  If you’ve never been to the X-Games, it’s an exciting (and free) event open to the public.  Half-pipe, snowmobile, and ski and snowboard tricks are only a small part of the schedule.

If you are planning to attend, traffic can be a bit difficult to manager.  If you want to take public transportation, it’s free, but in some cases you will be waiting up to an hour just to catch it.  We can help provide several transportation options to you and your guests, cutting back the wait times and making the games more enjoyable.  If you’re traveling to and from Denver and Vail, we can also provide some great options.  So send us an e-mail or give us a call, and we’ll see to it that you fully enjoy the games.  It’s definitely one of the most exciting times in the area!

Traveling to and from a foreign country?

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Lately, we’ve noticed a lot of foreign travelers using our services.  The main reason is that when traveling to and from a foreign country, there usually is only one flight out a day.  If our guests miss their flight, then they have to wait an entire day to catch the next flight.  Flying into Aspen can be a pretty dicey situation–in fact, in 2006 there were more than 335 canceled flights into Aspen!  What we strongly recommend is flying into Denver International Airport or Eagle/Vail Airport, where there is a greater tendency (and larger planes) to make your destination.  And of course, if you need to get from Denver International Airport to Aspen/Snowmass Village or Eagle/Vail Airport to Aspen/Snowmass Village, we can provide you with safe and secure transportation.  We are licensed by the state and fully insured.  For the past month, we’ve had a 100% success rate getting to and from our destinations–helping our passengers make their international flight on time.  And of course, if the roads or traffic are too bad, we’re going to help you out.  We can get you to a hotel and help rebook your flight; we won’t just drop you off at the airport and wish you luck.  We pride ourselves on being flexible with our guests and want to provide the most positive and safe experience for everyone.  After all, without our great passengers, we wouldn’t be here!

Aspen to Grand Junction

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

When planning your trip out here, don’t forget that there is an alternate airport that you can fly to: Grand Junction. Because Grand Junction is located at a lower altitude than Aspen, Snowmass, or Vail, which means the weather is much warmer and not as unpredictable. This Christmas Holiday saw many stranded passengers, and with most transportation companies booked up, guests had a much harder time getting here. If you’re planning a trip out here, look into alternate airports, such as Grand Junction and Denver International. Once there, we can get you back up to Aspen/Snowmass Village with no problem at all. And usually, the cost is still the same as if you were going to fly into Aspen. Keep in mind that holiday travel is an even more stressful time to travel with the crowds. Next time, be sure to have us pick you up at the airport to take the stress away!

Aspen to Vail

Monday, December 24th, 2007

I just want to tell everyone happy holidays! I hope you are all safe and sound enjoying your holidays with your friends and family. With all the snow and transportation needs people have this time of year, it can certainly be stressful trying to reach your destination. We’ve been meeting some great people and helping them arrange their transportation needs. Currently, there are a lot of people going from Aspen to Vail, and several people needing Aspen transportation. We can easily provide that service and everyone fits inside the van.

One nice surprise is that a lot of high-end properties (such as the Timbers Club, Sky Hotel, and Grand Aspen Hyatt) are using our services. The concierge tell us that their guests love the price, and still get have the luxury of a private, resort express shuttle. That’s really our goal…we don’t want to just shove a bunch of people in a van. We offer an affordable option and great experience. It seems to be working well for us and our guests!

Thanks again fro reading our blog, and from all of us at Rocky Mountain Transportation/Overthepass.com, HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAYS!

Denver to Aspen shuttle

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

If you are looking for Aspen transportation, Rocky Mountain Transportation is the way to go!

I know that planning a vacation is a very stressful situation. It might be easy to plan your trip to Denver or Vail, but how do you plan your trip from Denver to Aspen or Vail to Aspen? We’ll make it easy for you…we’re the Colorado express way to get you from Denver to Aspen, Denver to Snowmass Village, or Vail to Aspen!

As a former hotel manager, many a guest think that a rental car to Aspen is an easy thing to accomplish. Well, that’s not always the case. First off, there’s always the add-on fees that you might not know about. I’m not just talking insurance; consider taxes, airport pick-up fees, and other hidden charges. Additionally, you don’t know what kind of car you’re going to be stuck with. An example of this is a friend who had a car rental to Aspen. It ended up he had a very small car that got stuck trying to go over Vail pass. He had to have the Colorado Department of Transportation push his rental car up the hill and over the pass. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to try to manage Colorado’s roads after a long flight!

There is much more to consider with a Denver rental car. If you’re going to Copper Mountain, Vail, Aspen, or Snowmass Village, you will have to pay a daily parking charge. And chances are that you won’t even use your rental car the days that you are visiting. I frequently use Aspen and Snowmass Village’s transportation system, and it’s not just free during the day–it’s worry free. So call us at Rocky Mountain Transportation, and we’ll get you to where you need to go. You won’t have to worry about what kind of car you’ll be stuck with or how much you’ll end up paying for your trip. Our rates are our rates, and we’ll do all the driving over the pass. Wouldn’t it be nice to know the only thing you have to worry about is catching the plane?

Roads and slopes are open!

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Well, we’ve made a couple of trips so far. While the snow keeps coming down, we haven’t had any problems getting our guests to their destination (knock on wood). Vail pass always proves challenging, but we just put it in four-wheel drive and it’s not a problem for us! I also thought I’d let everyone know what the snowfall amounts are:

From Denver to Loveland ski resort), 31 inches

From Loveland to Copper Mountain, 42 inches

From Copper Mountain to Vail, 32 inches

From Vail to Aspen, 36 inches

And from Vail to Snowmass Village, 49 inches!

It’s great to see the Snowmass Village ski resort has the largest snowfall right now! So if you’re wondering where to go, Snowmass ski area is the place to be!

Let us know if you need a ride over here.

HUGE Snowfall!

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Well, it seems as though we’ve finally received the snowfall required to open up all four of Aspen’s mountains. It’s a good thing too, as Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk opens tomorrow. The snowfall, which I’m guessing at this point is already at 15 inches (and still piling up), will also help open all of the lifts at both Snowmass and Aspen Mountain.

The staff at Rocky Mountain Transportation is also hoping that this will be a great opportunity to provide and airport shuttle between Denver International, Eagle Vail airport, and the Aspen/Snowmass area. From the looks of things, the airport around here might be closed for a few days if the forecasts are accurate. The road conditions might be a bit rough, so for our guests that aren’t use to driving in this weather, please give us a call and let us take care of it for you. I’ve lived in a mountainous region all my life, and have made many a journey on snow-covered Interstate 70. Brian has extensive experience driving airport shuttles between both Aspen and Eagle/Vail. So you’re all in good hands!

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and remember that it’s much safer to have the professionals take you up to the mountains.

Take care,

Jason Lehman

Welcome to Rocky Mountain Transportation!

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Well, it’s official…Rocky Mountain Transportation is fully operational (and not just because we have a stack of of business cards). The state of Colorado sent us the official forms and stickers; we’ve cleared Denver International Airport’s extensive background checks; and we have a transponder to the Eagle/Vail Airport. We hope that you will tell everyone you know about us and we can generate some bookings.

Brian Cheek and myself, Jason Lehman, strongly feel that there are several reasons why this will be a successful operation. First, we want to provide comfort and convenience. We have a great 2006 Suburban to transport all of our guests and have a convenient schedule. Secondly, we also make sure our guests get to where they’re going–we’re not going to leave you at the side of the road or at a bus stop. Finally, we’re pretty friendly and we’ll bend over backwards for all of our clients.

The goal of this blog is to provide our travelers with some information on their trip out here, and for all our friends and family to know about what’s going on in our neck of the woods. Whether it’s Aspen, Snowmass Village, Vail or Denver, check back here to get the updates; we’ll let you know about the conditions and going-ons.

Thanks again for your support, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Jason
